Importance of supporting services and advocacy

Chris Crothers photoThe National Center for Responsive Philanthropy requested an article focusing on the importance of foundations supporting both direct services and advocacy. I wrote a brief essay that discusses why the Foundation for the Mid South funds and partners with efforts that do both and why, we believe, it is important in the long-term betterment of the Mid South.

"On and On" CD design

I was extremely honored to have been asked to design the packaging for The Gondoliers’ On and On EP and the accompanying website.  The 4-piece band is based in Starkville, MS, and  comprised of members from the now-defunct Puerto Rican Rum Drunks—a popular recording and touring group in the southeast.

www.thegondoliers.comThe EP is dedicated to the memory of the PRRD’s lead singer, Del Rendon, who passed away at too early an age.  A means of catharsis for the band to deal with the loss of their friend, The Gondoliers recorded and are donating all proceeds from the sale of the EP to the Del Rendon Foundation, which provides scholarships to art students attending Mississippi State University.  I appreciate the opportunity to be a small part of this project, particularly helping to promote the music of a fantastic band and honoring the memory of a dear friend and talented artist.

Please visit The Gondoliers’ website, CDBaby, or iTunes to purchase the CD or visit the Del Rendon Foundation to make a donation.
